National Pavement Expo (NPE) was held at Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte, North Carolina from January 25th-27th, 2023. This is the premier event of the year that brings together paving industry pros. That includes suppliers, vendors, and contractors who work in asphalt and concrete paving, seal coating, striping, sweeping, crack, and pavement repair.
The NPE offered attendees a time and space to network with other paving peers, learn about new technology, and participate in discussions and workshops delivered by industry experts. Over the course of 3.5 days, NPE hosted both established and up-and-coming businesses from the paving industry. The event also offers more than 50 conference sessions. Attentive.ai participated in the event with a session as well as an exhibitor booth. Shawn Prince, Kristen Kinsella, and Caeli Kinsella were in attendance repping Attentive.ai.
Attentive.ai speaker session
Shawn Prince, Head of Business Development, Attentive.ai headed a sales and marketing session titled, ‘How AI is Transforming the Paving Industry’s Sales Process’. The session covered the nuances of a sales process, what an effective sales process looks like, the difference between a good sales leader vs a bad one, how AI can help optimize it, etc.
“It was an honor to present at this year's National Pavement Expo. You could sense that the conference was well thought out and provided a great experience for me, the Attentive.ai team, and all the attendees. Our session was well received and had great engagement by the attendees both, during and after the session,” observed Shawn.
"Where technology adoption is typically slow in the asphalt and paving maintenance industry, attendees on the expo floor were excited to explore innovations. They also saw immense value in time savings and how they could repurpose their time," added Shawn. According to him, there was also lots of conversation on how Attentive.ai can integrate into their current workflows for improved efficiency.

Besides, over 150 exhibitors showcased their products and services on the expo floor.
There were fun areas on the expo floor ranging from food stalls and tricycle racing to basketball courts. Here, as an exhibitor, you could:
Engage in face-to-face discussions in the exhibit hall.
Every year, NPE exhibitors report significant show-related sales.
Last but not least, you can make your lead list longer. Lead generation is frequently cited by NPE exhibitors as a crucial indicator of their success at the event.
Attentive.ai was also one of the many exhibitors spearheading the wave of AI-based automation in the paving industry.
The footfall at our booth was exceptional. “We had a steady flow of visitors to the booth throughout. Most had either come because of Shawn's speaker session and others came because someone told them they had to check us out. Hence, the energy was high and very positive about AutoMeasure both for aerial and blueprint takeoffs,” said Kristen Kinsella, Marketing and Key Accounts Lead, Attentive.ai.
The team from Attentive.ai had an exceptional time interacting with paving professionals at NPE 2023. Now, we will be prepping for the National Pavement Expo and Conference taking place next year in Tampa, Florida. See you in 2024.
